A Rare and Sacred of Māmakī
We are deeply blessed to have discovered māmakī growing wild on my parents’ homestead on Hawaiʻi Island. This particular māmakī is unlike most you will find elsewhere. Its leaves are a deep red and transform when held to the sunlight. Shifting from red to purple to green. In Hawaiʻi, only a few plants carry this quality, and it is said to reflect the presence and power of Pele, the goddess of fire & creation.
